Forum for the future

Future-orientated project coordinated bySalvelanrinne School, Piikkiö, Finland.

Forum for the Future project is a diverse, future oriented network project that unites schools from around Europe. At this moment our Finnish net consists of four schools and the European net of several schools. The operations are planned and realized in local school communities in co-operation with the school and the National Board of Education and in network meetings and in meetings of the units. The aim is to create new operation models and learning environments through networking. As technology develops, communication with the other schools becomes easier and new channels are easy to build. We also want to involve students in all actions.

Forum for the Future -project is based on our earlier the project ‘Different but together’ started in the school year 2006-2007
.Since autumn 2007, the project coordinated by Salvelanrinne School, has been modified and extended to encompass a futures element, bearing links to the OECD CERI Schooling for Future project as well as the related sub-project Koulutus tulevaisuuteen (Education for the Future), which is coordinated by the Finnish National Board of Education. Hence, the Salvelanrinne project was chosen as an exemplary project to be introduced at the conference called Grasping the Future in Helsinki 1 - 3 Oct. 2008. We had our project launching meeting in Helsinki .
During this seminar we were running our own future orientated workshop, where students from our school study together with Portugese and Spanish students in international groups.

In Salvelanrinne School international projects are carried out by an optional subject called internationality. The students who have chosen this subject will be the main workers in the project. These students are also the main participants of our student exhange groups.
